A tea room, shop and information centre dedicated to all things Rooibos – this is what the new House of Rooibos in Clanwilliam’s Voortrekker Street is all about. “The inspiration behind our House of Rooibos is to provide visitors with the best experience possible, an experience that is true to Clanwilliam,” says Gerda de Wet, Communication Manager at Rooibos Ltd.
In order to offer visitors a fuller and finer Rooibos experience, the popular factory shop at Rooibos Limited has moved to bigger and better premises in the heart of Clanwilliam. House of Rooibos was officially opened with a Rooibos High Tea on 16 July 2019.
The highlight on the tea room menu is the Rooibos-themed high tea with sandwiches, quiche, tart, muffins and even a koeksister. The high tea menu includes two Rooibos teas which guests can select from about 10 options. The tea room also serves cakes, quiches, muffins, tarts and a selection of original, green and flavoured Rooibos teas. All the cakes and meals are prepared with Rooibos as an ingredient.
The shop is stocked with a wide range of Rooibos teas, capsules, iced teas, cosmetics and other Rooibos-inspired products. Cosmetic ranges like the African Extracts Advantage Range, African Extracts Classic Range, Marice, Natural Collection Range, Nature’s Essence, Red Cedar, Rooibos soaps and Storytellers products can also be purchased. Other products include Blended Rooibos, Flavoured Rooibos, Green Rooibos, Honeybush, Natural Rooibos and Rooibos Espresso, Rooibos Iced Tea, a variety of food and gifts.
House of Rooibos also serves as an information centre for Rooibos Ltd. Visitors can watch a 10-minute video about the history and production process of this indigenous product. The presentation is available in eight languages.
