On 4 September 2018, Rooibos Ltd arranged a study group meeting for producers to share knowledge and discuss industry trends. This formed part of the company’s producer liaison programme.
For the first session, the producers gathered at Swartboskraal Boerdery near Graafwater in the Sandveld where they learnt more about the advantages and challenges of planting Rooibos on potato circles and the irrigation of Rooibos.
For the second session, they visited Paardekop Boerdery near Citrusdal where Bielie van Zyl discussed chemical weed control methods. Mechanical and chemical weed control demonstrations were also given. For the first time in Rooibos Ltd’s history, a helicopter demonstration formed part of the programme.
The producers networked and enjoyed something to eat and drink at the Paardekop lookout point before returning home.
